Your morning begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort. Travel comfortably into the heart of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, where your SEIT Guide will share fascinating insights into the desert landscape and local wildlife. You’ll also hear about the deep cultural history of the Anangu, the local Aboriginal people who have been the custodians of this land for thousands of years.
At the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, you’ll visit Walkatjara Art, a thriving Aboriginal-owned and operated art centre. Walkatjara Art is not only a creative space but also a vital hub for Anangu artists to share their stories and maintain their traditions. Known for its vibrant desert colours, Walkatjara Indigenous artwork is rich with the timeless Creation Stories of Uluru and traditional aspects of desert life, helping to keep Anangu culture and knowledge strong for future generations. The art gallery showcases incredible artworks, each piece carrying stories of Tjukurpa (Anangu creation law), providing a rare opportunity to witness authentic Indigenous Australian art firsthand.
In an exclusive, air-conditioned workspace with stunning panoramic views of Uluru, you’ll be warmly welcomed by expert artists who will guide you through the significance of dot painting. Hear their personal stories and learn how each dot, line, and symbol represent aspects of Anangu Aboriginal culture, history, and landscape. This hands-on experience allows you to develop a deeper appreciation for the tradition as you create your own meaningful Aboriginal dot painting to take home.
Under the guidance of Walkatjara’s talented Aboriginal artists, you’ll explore traditional techniques and storytelling methods used in Indigenous art. Engage with the artists as they explain the inspiration behind their work and the importance of passing down these stories to future generations. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, this interactive session is a rare chance to connect with a living cultural tradition.
Refreshments will be served in this inspiring setting; expect warm, filled croissants, seasonal fruit and sweet treats with some local flavours served with tea and coffee, allowing you to relax and take in the stunning backdrop of Uluru’s ever-changing colours. After this enriching experience, reboard your vehicle and enjoy a scenic drive back to Ayers Rock Resort with your SEIT Guide. This dot painting workshop offers one of the most culturally immersive experiences at Uluru, leaving you with not only a beautiful piece of artwork but also a deeper connection to the stories, traditions, and artistic heritage of the Anangu.
