Uluru Packing List of Central Australia

Sunset from the Plane

Uluru Packing List – G’day,

Is it almost holiday time?

Are you heading to Uluru?

You want to have room for souvenirs but you also don’t want to freeze?

Look no further. We have the perfect list for you.

Uluru Packing List

Things to do before you start packing.

One of the first things I do prior to any holiday is open up my WeatherZone app. It has a detailed weather forecast telling you everything you need to know. Always helps with knowing what to pack.

The second thing I do is check out social media.

A few pages to follow on Instagram include @seitoutbackaustralia @visitcentralaus @ausoutbacknt. Hashtags to follow include: #Uluru, #SEIToutbackoz #NTaustralia #RedCentreNT.

This is a good way of seeing what’s been happening in the territory over the last few days and check out what other people are wearing. Definitely helps with ideas on what to pack.

The Weather.

The bonus of heading to Uluru? It’s not Melbourne. The weather doesn’t tend to change too drastically day to day. There is this expectation that it will be 40°C /104°F during the day and drop to 10°C/50°F at night.

This is not quite the case.

Perfect summer outfits

Summer:

During summer you will experience  temperatures anywhere from 36°C / 86°F to 49°C /120°F during the day in some parts of the National Park. The temperature can then drop to between 20°C / 79°F and 38°C /100°F during the night.

Unless there are storms and cold weather forecast, you don’t have to worry too much about being freezing. It’s more of a relief when you get to the cooler part of the day.

Winter:

Winter temperatures are usually between 14°C / 57°F  and 25°C / 77°F on a good day.

The bonus of winter? This is our dry season.

This is when the sun is out and everyone’s walking around comfortably in shorts and t-shirts. In the shade it is quite cool but sit somewhere in the sun and you’ll be toasty warm all day.

The night time and sunrise is when you really want to rug up. Nights can be anywhere between 5°C /41°F  and 12C° /53°F. It’s the sunrise briskness that people feel the most.

Sunrise is the coldest time of the day. This is when our temperatures can drop down to -7°C /19°F on a really cold day. The open clear skies and open spaces in the desert don’t help with keeping the heat in at night.
